According to the latest data, the industrial robots sector has diminished as a result of its close ties to the automotive and manufacturing industriesTHE ROBOT Report says although the industrial robotics sector has suffered, the medical and defence robotics sectors continue to flourish, despite the global financial crisis.

The Robot Report is a new website which caters to the global robotics industry. It updates Robo-Stox, a listing of publically-traded robot companies, every day.

According to the latest data, the industrial robots sector has diminished as a result of its close ties to the automotive and manufacturing industries. Workplace and home service robotics has also experienced a downturn.

The report says research and development is progressing at such a rate, however, that it will soon be more feasible to apply semi-autonomous robot systems to the healthcare, national infrastructure and resource management, security, transportation, logistics and education industries. This would provide a timely lift.
