TAIWANESE manufacturer Hiwin Technologies has announced it will invest $NT100m (around $A3.73m) into the country’s robotics industry.
The company will help establish a robotic arm laboratory at the National Taiwan University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The developer is investing in research and development with the aim of becoming the world’s fourth-largest robotics manufacturer by 2010. The company’s robotics sales reached $NT300m ($A11.2m) over 2007 and are expected to triple in 2008.
As a result, Hiwin is preparing to expand the production capacity of both its Taichung Precision Machinery Technology and Innovation Park and its Chiayi-based Tapumei Precision Machinery Industrial Park.
Its latest product, an automatic wafer drying robot, is entering the final certification phase.
