Online automated factory simulation

THE ENGINEERING Employers Association Group Training Scheme and SAGE Didactic have developed an online training program to teach System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Manufacturing Intelligence Systems (MIS).

The program uses the SAGE Didactic HAS200, an automated miniature factory. On this, operators can develop skills need to supervise the automated systems used in the manufacturing and processing industries.

In the simulation, the virtual factory is owned by a fictitious manufacturing and processing company called ‘No-Waste Ltd’.

The designers say the demonstration will reflect the realities of factory management. The users will have to use production data to solve problems and improve efficiency. It involves both online and workplace assessment, with training for three different levels of production worker, supervisor and manager.

The program is funded by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework.
