PT AUTOMATION Solutions has received the Gold Coast Mayor’s Innovation Award for a project in Austria in which it installed the world’s first automated dual-sided EPS plastic pallet manufacturing facility.
The company developed a detailed electrical design, CAD drawings, software and a motor control centre and also completed the project management, installation and commissioning phases for the project.
The facility made use of equipment from Rockwell Automation, Festo and ifm electronic.
According to the solution provider, the facility is controlled by an Allen-Bradley 62 series PLC, running on a ControlLogix platform. The PLC has over 400 inputs and outputs split between the controller and a DeviceNet network. The motor control centre features multiple Kentix 6000 Servo drives running on a Sercos fibre network for high precision and speed.
The developer claims the plant is capable of completing a pallet in less than 90 seconds.
