Rockwell and Cisco combine to develop automation portfolio

ROCKWELL Automation has joined forces with Cisco to distribute a new range of industrial Ethernet switches as well as educational ‘Reference Architectures.’

The companies will be co-distributing the Allen-Bradley Stratix series, including the soon-to-be-released Stratix 8000.

The Stratix 8000 is being developed with both the Cisco ‘Catalyst’ operating system and the Rockwell RSLogix 5000 programming software. The companies say this makes it suitable for both IT and manufacturing applications.

The Stratix 6000, 2000 and other embedded switches are also available as part of the joint portfolio.

The businesses have co-developed a set of educational documents called ‘Reference Architectures’. These include design guides, whitepapers, educational seminars, profiles and presentations.

The developers say the guides will help operators to design, implement and maintain plant-wide network architectures.
