ROBOTIC Automation has announced the release of Motoman’s new five axis MPK2 robot with DXM100 controller for material handling applications.
The MPK2 robot features a hollow arm design which allows cables and hoses to be run internally throughout the entire robot from base to wrist.
According to Motoman, the MPK2 robot’s slim arm design and internal cabling enables it to reach into confined spaces without interference, reducing maintenance and facilitating programming.
The robot has a 1,625mm vertical reach, 900mm horizontal reach and a 2kg payload. The payload can increase to 4kg for applications where the T-axis is used parallel to the floor.
Motoman claims the top wrist speed of 2,000 degrees per second provides maximum productivity, even when parts need to be rotated more than 90 degrees. Repeatability is ±0.5mm.
The DX100 controller is said to perform multiple tasks and control up to eight robots, I/O devices and communication protocols.
