ROCKWELL Automation has announced its PlantPAx systems and solutions ‘roadmap’ for process automation, the new name for its end-to-end solutions suite.

Rockwell Automation says the PlantPAx systems and solutions ‘roadmap’ is based on the significant investments it has made to enhance its process automation offerings.

According to Rockwell Automation, the portfolio also reflects the tremendous progress it has made in integrating its organic investments with its partner and acquisition investments.

Rockwell Automation says the PlantPAx portfolio unifies its core capabilities and technologies with those of its market leading partners, including OSIsoft and Endress+Hauser, as well as its acquisitions, such as Incuity, Pavilion Technologies, ICS Triplex and ProsCon.

The technologies are combined under a common systems and solutions umbrella to provide market innovation and value to process industry customers.

According to Rockwell Automation, the PlantPAx systems further strengthen the company’s system engineering environment to offer process and batch control users a new library of reusable control objects and tools. Advanced process control (APC) functions can enhance the performance of slow-response process loops.

Rockwell Automation says the PlantPAx systems also include control strategies and accompanying visualisation, which are configured using modular and reusable objects to simplify design, commissioning and maintenance. The technology also delivers an alarm platform and can minimise or eliminate downtime and process disruptions.

The PlantPAx systems extend the scope of process optimisation to include fuzzy logic, basic and advanced process loop tuning and the model predictive control (MPC) suite, from the acquisition of Pavilion Technologies. The MPC suite can help manufacturers achieve efficient economic performance from production assets.

According to Rockwell Automation, the PlantPAx systems provide an extensive range of batch and sequencing protocols which adhere to the ISA-88 standards. They also offer the broadest coverage of safety integrity levels (SIL) and fault-tolerance requirements.

Rockwell Automation says the PlantPAx systems include new data delivery capabilities, tools and procedures that track assets and their performance as well as a historian facility to record and manage plant-wide process data.
