MICROSOFT has launched the third edition of its Robotics Developer Studio, which it says has improvements in performance and the developer environment.
Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 Standard Edition can be purchased through the company, while the Express Edition is available free for students.
According to the developer, this new version will provide 1.5 to three times the performance of its predecessor and services also load three times faster.
Additionally, the Visual Programming Language drag-and-drop tool for defining distributed applications, playback features and a floor-plan editor have all been improved.
Users can import content from SolidWorks’ CAD program and the software is also compatible with the company’s Visual Studio 2005 and 2008.
Robotics manufacturer, ABB says it has also developed a plug-in for university students, allowing them to create their own virtual robot controller with the program.
